Playing Tug

Tug is a great game to teach your puppy but make sure there are some rules to it for safety.

 

Move the toy to create a desire to chase and let your puppy grab hold, don't try and pull it away from them.

 

Ask them to release it by swapping for a treat or another toy.

 

Make the toy move from side to side close to the ground. Avoid pulling upwards or backwards. Keep things gentle to keep your puppy coming back for more.

 

If your puppy puts their teeth on your skin, stop and play once they stop.
